Hello, Little Jaybird!

As I was checking on the cabbage, squash, and beet seedlings this afternoon, this handsome Western Scrub Jay made an appearance.  He hopped along about 3 feet from me, seemingly unafraid, pecking in the grass and cocking his head.  I happened to have my phone in my pocket, and as I thanked him for being so friendly as to stop by, he let me take his picture.

I also found a great video today on Garden of Eve‘s blog how to pinch back tomato plants.  A friend showed me how to do this last year, but I’m a hesitant pruner and thinner, so Eve’s video gave me the courage I needed to do the deed.  Now I have clean-looking tomato plants.  Thanks, Eve!
